Hello my dear friends of the 4th Ward!
August! can you believe that we've already reached the last month of Summer? And we thought July was warm (see last month's email) I hope that despite all that we are currently enduring that you and your loved ones have been able to make some good memories this summer. In any case it's definitely been one for the history books, and one we won't soon forget.
As a Bishopric and Ward Council we have met and again decided for the safety of our Ward family to not hold a Sacrament meeting in August. Please continue to hold Sacrament in your Home and please let me or any member of the Bishopric know if there is any question you may have and if you need help to receive the Sacrament in your home. I would ask you to please review last months email and Elder Porter Collins wonderful advice for helping to make Sacrament in your home's a special spiritual experience.
I know we feel disappointed in not being able to meet together in person and so we would like to hold another virtual Fireside for the entire Ward on Sunday the 23rd at 11:30 am, Bro Latimer will conduct and has a wonderful presentation prepared for us.

We will send another reminder next week. We ask you to remind and invite all your neighbors and Ministering families and sisters so all may attend.
And finally a little thought as I close this email of the power of listening to the spirit, I have found in my life that I often miss the spirits 1st (or even 21st) prompting simply because I was not listening for it. I am very grateful for the chance Heavenly Father gives me to try again and again when at first I fail to Hear Him. This week two short but timely notifications reached me via social media and email from the church, the first was a short thought shared by Pres M. Russell Ballard on his twitter account (How cool is it that he and all the Apostles have those!) in which he shared this: "Receiving revelation comes, at least in my case, when I have still and quiet moments. You cannot connect with heaven in a mass of clutter. You have to find those quiet moments in your life when you can contemplate the things of the Spirit. "
What a powerful message from someone we know and sustain as a prophet seer and revelator!
The next one was in an email from the Tabernacle Choir at Temple Square's newsletter in which they shared this amazing performance from the Soprano artist Sissel from last summers Pioneer Concert: https://youtu.be/ EFe84U__kt8 This song was based on Psalm 46:10, “Be still, and know that I am God,”
What an incredibly powerful song and reminder!
As the scripture says "In the mouths of two or more witnesses..." I may still struggle to hear the spirit as quickly as I should, but in this case it was loud and clear that I and you needed to hear this message.
Be still, Hear Him, and know that He is God!
We love you my friends! We pray for and ponder on how we can best help you, please continue to listen for the spirits promptings and be ready to act upon those impressions. Our Heavenly Father loves you and wants you to have joy and happiness in this life and has asked us to help each other in that journey.
Sincerely,
Bishop Jackman
