Valene and I spent some time today going through the talks and material that President Barlow invited us to study as a substitute to Stake Conference. It included Present Nelson's invitation to increase our participation in family history research and indexing.
This afternoon I sat down to follow up on a name I had found last week. It turned out to be the most rich line of family members who need their temple work done that I have ever encountered. In a little over an hour I had found (with Valene's help) ELEVEN individuals who need almost all of their work done. Nearly all of them have additional hints and sources that will undoubtedly lead to many more family members. Important linkages for children who were previously unknown to family search have been made now, and a large family is nearly ready to be baptized, ordained, endowed, and sealed.
I feel strongly that the Lord is guiding and blessing this work as we try to step up our efforts during this period of more discretionary time. Those on the other side of the veil must be cheering us on and praying for our success as they see additional opportunities to find them and be ready to provide these most valuable ordinances when the temples reopen.
I feel confident that you will find success where you may have been frustrated in the past if you will prayerfully spend some time looking for these precious ancestors. If you don't know where to start, contact Bill or Luana Moulton. They will help you find success!

Consecrate Thy Performance Unto Thee That thy performance may be for the welfare of thy Soul
This morning in Bishopric and Ward Council I was asked to share a scripture. Bishop asked that I share this scripture with our ward and my experience with you. I Love you and look forward to meeting and serving with you again.
In second Nephi Chapter 32:9 it says "But behold, I say unto you that ye must pray always, and not faint; that ye must not perform any thing unto the Lord save in the first place ye shall pray unto the Father in the name of Christ, that he will consecrate thy performance unto thee, that thy performance may be for the welfare of thy soul."
For the last few months we have had to live without being able to attend church meetings including sacrament meetings, presidency meetings family history meetings, meeting in person to minister any may more. These meetings have always included prayer. Prayer is one of the most powerful tools we have that invite the spirit and help prepare our minds and hearts to be directed by the spirit.
When reading this scripture it dawned on me that I need to look for more opportunities to invite my Heavenly Father more to guide me whenever I am trying to do something for him or to learn from him. What a difference it has made.
A couple areas where it has made a difference is in personal scripture study and come follow me. Another area has been before blessing the sacrament in my home or helping someone by giving a priesthood blessing. In each situation the spirit has been noticeably different.
What a great opportunity we have in our homes during this period of social distancing and after to include our Heavenly Father in everything we do from serving our family members, to family history, indexing, personal study and many more.
Brothers and Sisters I invite you to invite him in all that you do. Love Brother Latimer

Westland 4th Ward - Family History and Indexing
What to do, what to do?... Did you know that now is the perfect time to start working on your Family History? Poor Sis. Moulton has so much time on her hands right now and has asked for you to help her fill her days up with helping you to find family names, index records to help others and to get so much ready for when the temples reopen that they'll have to keep them open 24 hours a day!
Here's what she has offered:
"Hope everyone is doing well!!! I wanted to remind everyone that I am available to help anyone who would like to learn how to index, find ancestors on family search, or help if you get stuck in your indexing efforts. With indexing, I can pull up the batch you are indexing up on my computer at home and see exactly what you are indexing to better help you. I can guide you to batches that are easier than others and teach you how to return batches if you get going on one and realize you are “over your head.” I can send you an email request and if you grant me permission, I will be able to see your family tree on family search. From here, I can help you find ancestors who are ready for temple work or can help you find new ancestors. We all probably have a little more time on our hands and if you would like some help filling some of that time with something that will bring you great joy and fulfillment PLEASE feel free to let me know!!!! - Sis. Luana Moulton
Now how nice is that? and you know what so are all the other Temple and Family History Consultants! In case you don't know who they are - Bishop Bill Moulton,Sis. Bonnie Hansen,Sis. Cami Knapp.
All are super eager to help you and they can do it remotely over the phone, on your computer/phone/tablet and can even video conference with you to help you one on one, or as a family.
We have a wonderful opportunity to really make a difference in our lives and those of our families when we participate in Temple and Family History. If it seems too daunting may I suggest that you simply start with telling your own history in Family search by updating your story and that of your family first. I promise that as soon as you start you will find a greater desire to do more and will be blessed for your efforts.
See what blessings we've been promised:
