Consecrate Thy Performance Unto Thee That thy performance may be for the welfare of thy Soul
This morning in Bishopric and Ward Council I was asked to share a scripture. Bishop asked that I share this scripture with our ward and my experience with you. I Love you and look forward to meeting and serving with you again.
In second Nephi Chapter 32:9 it says "But behold, I say unto you that ye must pray always, and not faint; that ye must not perform any thing unto the Lord save in the first place ye shall pray unto the Father in the name of Christ, that he will consecrate thy performance unto thee, that thy performance may be for the welfare of thy soul."
For the last few months we have had to live without being able to attend church meetings including sacrament meetings, presidency meetings family history meetings, meeting in person to minister any may more. These meetings have always included prayer. Prayer is one of the most powerful tools we have that invite the spirit and help prepare our minds and hearts to be directed by the spirit.
When reading this scripture it dawned on me that I need to look for more opportunities to invite my Heavenly Father more to guide me whenever I am trying to do something for him or to learn from him. What a difference it has made.
A couple areas where it has made a difference is in personal scripture study and come follow me. Another area has been before blessing the sacrament in my home or helping someone by giving a priesthood blessing. In each situation the spirit has been noticeably different.
What a great opportunity we have in our homes during this period of social distancing and after to include our Heavenly Father in everything we do from serving our family members, to family history, indexing, personal study and many more.
Brothers and Sisters I invite you to invite him in all that you do. Love Brother Latimer
